Day 4. Like the Sun's Ray
Now we're in 12th century. Polatsk has ten stone temples, its population is more than 10000 people. But now we're 2 kilometers away from the town's center -- in the village Sialco. Here you'll see the raise of Polatsk architectural branch of the 12th century. This place is inseparably linked with famous Polatsk citizen, Euphrosyne of Polatsk, whose great spiritual feat was the monastery foundation in 12th century, which became the center of education and enlightenment.
There was a school for children together with the monastery. The young Polatsk citizen learned to write, read, got knowledge on Natural science, medicine and rhetoric, learned Greek language, Latin. Also there was a scriptorium, the manufactory of book rewriting, and the iconographic manufactory.
